More relaxing day today. Lovely breakfast followed by a bracing walk along the coast. Not so bad with the wind behind, but walking into the wind was quite unpleasant because of the drizzle — dog enjoyed it though. Skipped lunch as we knew there would be a big evening meal, just had a cup of tea and biscuit.
Spent the afternoon snoozing, reading, watching the surf and writing up this blog. Tonight’s event is “black tie” so we had to prepare ourselves in full finery. My wife is really pissed off upset because she forgot her bling jewellery. I remembered my cuff-links.
After Champagne and canapés we were seated in the restaurant for five more courses. The food was so good, but by the time we got to sweet course we couldn’t manage any more and had to bow out - we were not the only ones. The restaurant staff were amazing. Considering the long hours they worked, it was a full house, and there were five courses to deliver they remained calm, friendly professional and cheerful throughout.
One thing that detracted from the pleasant atmosphere was the woman at the next table making two video calls to show her family or friends what she was having to eat. She talked loudly and had the volume of the tinny speakers of the phone up high; how rude and inconsiderate.
After taking the dog for his pre bedtime walk we retired for the night.
